Donation of the family of Füsun Özenç. They arrived to Turkey from Thessaloniki and Veria/Karaferye. It is presently exhibited in Kuşadası, in the Association of Turkish refugees from Thessaloniki and other locations in the broader Rumeli (Kuşadası Selanik Mübadilleri ve Rumeli Göçmenleri Derneğ).

Story of this object from Füsun Özenç: My mother was born in 1917. She and her family came from Thessaloniki with the exchange. She was seven years old when she came here. They first settled in Istanbul, then Kocaeli, and finally Adapazarı. My grandfather was a cheese merchant. They lived in a mansion in Adapazarı, but they came to İzmir after the deterioration and eventually, closure of my grandfather’s business. They first settled in Izmir’s Mektupçu neighborhood and then in the Karşıyaka district. These clothes (socks and shirt) belong to my mother. Her name was Hacer.
