This pair of bracelets was made of vegan fiber obtained from certain species of palm treas. They were created by MAM, a Spanish brand founded in 2014 and based in El Born, Barcelona.
The bracelets are reminiscent of the weapon-bracelets of Turkana men in northern Kenya. The Turkanas employed both wrist and finger hooks/knives. As weapons, they could be used to gash the face or gouge out an eye, but they were also used as utensils to cut and eat meat. Inserted on the wrist and covered with a thin strip of leather, such finger hooks and finger knives are also found among several in Sudan, Uganda and northern Nigeria.
